‘Tras-Os-Montes’ Conference + Road Race in Vila Real

The Porto stake includes the Vila Real Branch with about 20 active members including the Chaves Group with 5 active members + the Braganca Branch with about 20 active members including the Mirandela Group with 4 active. Once a year they hold a combined meeting of these 4 units in Mirandela known as the “Tras-Os-Montes” (Behind the Hills-Conference). This occurred on my birthday-June 26th and counting the Stake personnel there were 73 in attendance. We attend Braganca & Mirandela on the 1st and 3rd Sundays + Vila Real & Chaves on the 2nd and 4th Sundays. We live in Vila Real the chapel is 10 minutes away. Braganca is 1hr15min.

Beginning in 1931 the City of Vila Real has hosted a road race. Due to covid they have not held the race since 2019. The track is about 3 miles and they reach speeds of about 120 mph. Our apartment is very close to the road that is used as the race track.

The cars have arrived!

A new senior couple arrived this week. E/S Frank Ramsey. They are from Virginia. He retired in April as an emergency room physician and will be serving as the missionary medical. 

On Wednesday this week we drove to Porto to help them get settled in and had a nice meal with the Ericksons and Ramseys.
