MTC Week 2-VISAs have arrived!

On Monday, April 18, 2022 we received our VISAs. We went in person to the Portugal Consulate in San Francisco on February 8, 2022. This was a long process but now we should be able to fly to Lisbon next Monday, April 25th!

On September 2, 1976 I, entered the newly completed Language Training Mission (LTM) in preparation to learn Portuguese on my way to Brazil. The LTM was dedicated on September 27, 1976 by the prophet-President Spencer W. Kimball. I stayed in the LTM until Dec. 7, 1976.  In the fall of 1978 it became known as the Missionary Training Center (MTC).

This is my good friend Dave “Homer” Longhurst. We entered the LTM on the same day.  Even though we were never companions we were roommates at BYU and have remained close friends since we first met.

These photos were taken at about the same spot on April 18, 2022 with my eternal companion!

In February 2022, Homer and his eternal companion Chris. How great to have good friends with happy marriages!

                           SCRIPTURE POWER:

And I was led by the Spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which I should do. Nevertheless I went forth,” (1 Ne. 4:6-7)

Elder Richard G. Scott, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, titled, “Using the Supernal Gift of Prayer” (April 2007 general conference). said:

“What do you do when you have prepared carefully, have prayed fervently, waited a reasonable time for a response, and still do not feel an answer? You may want to express thanks when that occurs, for it is an evidence of his trust. When you are living worthily and your choice is consistent with the Savior’s teachings and you need to act, proceed with trust … God will not let you proceed too far without a warning impression if you have made the wrong decision.”

•“God cannot steer a parked car and we have to be moving if we want him to guide us.” –John Bytheway ... •“The Savior rarely moves the mountains in front of us, but He always helps us climb them.” –Sheri Dew ... •“While the Lord will magnify us in both subtle and dramatic ways, He can only guide our footsteps when we move our feet.” –Marion G. Romney ..

Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf said: “When our wagon gets stuck in the mud, God is much more likely to assist the man who gets out to push than the man who merely raises his voice in prayer—no matter how eloquent the oration.”
