Braganca is a city of about 36,000 people located 1hr 15 min East of Villa Real very close to Spain. There is a small branch with an average attendance of 15. We plan to alternate weeks between the Vila Real Branch and the Braganca Branch.
Braganca Branch President Silverio D. Bronco Morais. He prefers to be called President Silverio. He is humble and quiet. The meeting started a few minutes early with 15 mature members + 4 missionaries. The youngest person was 21 years old.
Delton Sambo is 22 years old from Angola. He joined the Church 2 years ago, only member of his family. He is a student at the local university and a great strength to the Branch.
The Zone Leaders attended District Meeting with us in Braganca this week. The Braganca Elders (Alvey & Blackhurst) are on the far right. The Zone Leaders are next to me (Asplund & Utley)
Kim made pancakes and eggs! 1/2 of the syrup bottle was used, they even added it to their eggs.
After District Meeting we went with Elders Alvey and Blackhurst to visit a less active member. The member had moved from the apartment but the girl that lives there now let us in and has agreed to listen to the lessons. There are 5 roommates from Cape Verde living in this apartment while attending the local university.
Most every day we go on about a 2 mile walk along many different routs. Here are some photos:
This road includes a retractable bollard. Interestingly, a unnamed senior missionary (currently living in Lisbon) was following a taxi on a similar road in Porto. He didn’t realize that the taxi used a code to lower the yellow bollard and when he entered the road the bollard raised into their car causing it to be totaled!
Perhaps our favorite walk is along both sides of the Corgo river. These are steps leading to the route.
This is one of the five (5) separate pedestrian bridges over the river.

SCRIPTURE POWER
The Bible Dictionary states: “Christianity is founded on the greatest of all miracles, the Resurrection of our Lord. If that be admitted, other miracles cease to be improbable.” (BD-Miracles).
Jacob teaches that Christ’s suffering the pains of all men was necessary for the resurrection to occur.
“And he cometh into the world that he may save all men if they will hearken unto his voice; for behold, he suffereth the pains of all men, yea, the pains of every living creature, both men, women, and children, who belong to the family of Adam. And he suffereth this that the resurrection might pass upon all men, that all might stand before him at the great and judgment day.” (2 Ne. 9:21-22)
