Vin Diesel-Fast and Furious 10 to be filmed in Vila Real

This week while at the barbershop in addition to my $6 haircut learned that the mayor of Vila Real had just announced that this summer, Fast and Furious 10 staring Vin Diesel would be filmed in Vila Real.

Berto’s barbershop! My barber on the left and the owner on the right.
Kim and I walked by the barbershop later this same day. Yes, that’s a $6 haircut!
We walked on a different side of a bridge this week and noticed this interesting group of homes built in the side of a hill below the main city streets.

We walked on the narrow path among the hillside homes and looked back at the bridge.

We have discovered many beautiful hardly used walking trails.

Perhaps our favorite route (so far) takes us along the Corgo River.
On Friday, May 20th we were invited to a married couple activity at the church. The activity started at 8PM and the pizza was delivered at 9. Kim and I were asked to give a short message on how to strengthen marriage relationships. After the pizza we played a version of the newlywed game and then danced until 11:15PM.

This is the branch president Hugo and his wife.

SCRIPTURE POWER

Lehi, speaking to Joseph his last-born says: “Thou wast born in the wilderness of mine afflictions; yea, in the days of my greatest sorrow..” (2 Ne. 3:1) When has been your greatest sorrow?

Perhaps, Lehi is referring to a specific event when he murmured against the Lord. Everyone “did suffer much for the want of food. And it came to pass that Laman and Lemuel and the sons of Ismael did begin to murmur exceedingly, because of their sufferings and afflictions in the wilderness; and also my father began to murmur against the Lord his God” (1 Ne. 16: 19-20)
As a result of Nephi’s respect for him as the prophet “I said unto my father: Whither shall I go to obtain food?.. And it came to pass that the voice of the Lord came unto my father; and he was truly chastened because of his murmuring against the Lord, insomuch that he was brought down into the depths of sorrow.” (1 Ne. 16: 23, 25)
In the next chapter known as Nephi’s psalm (after the death of his father), he emphasizes the importance of always trusting in God.  “nevertheless, I know in whom I have trusted” (2 Ne. 4:19) “O Lord, I have trusted in thee, and I will trust in thee forever” (2 Ne. 4:34)

During our sufferings and afflictions in our wilderness do we murmur against the Lord or do we still trust in God?  Job, set a great example when he said: “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him” (Job 13:15)

C.S. Lewis said: “Getting over a painful experience is much like crossing monkey bars. You have to let go at some point in order to move forward.”
