Travel to Braganca & Chaves

We have been assigned to help support the Vila Real Branch where we live and the associated Chaves Group located 45 minutes North (less than 3 miles from Spain). + The Braganca Branch located 1hr 10min away and the associated Mirandela Group. We plan to alternate weeks. Yesterday we left at 9AM and returned home at 5PM. Sundays are very long but worthwhile.

This was at a 1st lesson taught on Tuesday, May 10th to this good woman who moved from Brazil 2 months ago to avoid the crime. She brought her own copy of the Bible which she has studied regularly. After reading from the Book of Mormon she commented that reading the Book of Mormon helps her understand the Bible.

There is this great children’s park (ages 1-14) close to us that is hardly used except on Saturdays.

This photo is taken from a upper bridge we crossed on over the Corgo river. In the center rear of the photo is the Nosso Shopping mall.

This is Linker a 20 year old member in Chaves. He was one of the 5 members this week.

We saw her at the mall on Saturday and she came to church on Sunday! Stay tuned..

SCRIPTURE POWER

We learn from Nephi a valuable lesson that faith and prayer cannot trump someone’s Agency.

Nephi begins his poetic psalm with “O wretched man that I am!” (2 Ne. 4:17)  He concludes with “O Lord, I have trusted in thee, and I will trust in thee forever…Yea, I know that God will give liberally to him that asketh. Yea, my God will give me, if I ask not amiss; therefore I will lift up my voice unto thee..” (2 Ne. 4: 34-35)

The next chapter he puts into practice his faith and prayer. “BEHOLD, it came to pass that I, Nephi, did cry much unto the Lord my God, because of the anger of my brethren. But behold, their anger did increase against me..” (2 Ne. 5:1-2) Faith and prayer cannot trump Agency! (See also Alma 8: 8-11)
